The UN Foundation welcomes the Future of Global Health Initiativesโ (FGHI) Lusaka Agenda, and strongly supports its aim to improve health financing efficiency and effectiveness in the global health architecture. Through a country-led approach that strengthens primary care and invests in resilient health systems, we can protect progress, reverse lost gains, and bring the world closer to achieving universal health coverage (UHC) by the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Lusaka Agenda presents concrete steps for supporting national priorities to accelerate progress toward UHC while addressing the converging challenges of financing, governance, and shifting health needs.
We encourage all stakeholders to consider FGHIโs invitation to continue working toward a joint, long-term vision of domestically financed health systems and, at the same time, address any remaining financial gaps sustainably to deliver on the central promise of the SDGs: leaving no one behind.
