โ€œOur new International Development White Paper sets out a transformative new vision for how UK development assistance should work.  At its core, our new approach is about partnership, working together and shaping narratives which developing countries own and deliver.

The Lusaka Agenda is a perfect example of this new approach. It sets out a renewed vision for global health to deliver sustainable impact within the changing international context. It is driven above all by our partner countries, who have called for the Global Health Initiatives to accelerate their contribution to building resilient health systems, to align behind national plans, and to embed sustainability at the heart of their operations.

I am therefore really delighted today, on Universal Health Coverage Day, to give my support to the Lusaka Agenda.

And to put it in the context of our continued and deep commitment to global health, and our strong support for Gavi, the Global Fund and the Global Financing Facility.

The two years ahead will be critical in shaping the future of global health for decades to come. I look forward to working with partners to deliver the Lusaka Agenda – as we set our sights on our shared goal of Universal Health Coverage for all.โ€
